From the back alleys of the mind and the tight communities of British Columbia's Gulf Islands, comes O'mally; part jazz singing cat, part Irish Pirate Queen, and all raw talent. O'mally is Meg Iredale-Gray, and whether she's dazzling with her clawhammer banjo, telling stories on the old acoustic or haunting souls with her sweet and melancholy vocals, its coming straight up from the murky depths of her very soul.O'mally's debut album of original music, "Speck" was released in May to a welcoming audience. Produced, recorded and tracked on by her brother Adam Iredale-Gray (Fish & Bird/Fiddle Head Records), "Speck" spent its debut month on the !earshot Folk/Roots/Blues charts reaching #3 nationally, with O'mally supporting it on a sweeping cross Canada tour of performances and interviews. Backing up O'mally live are a usual line-up of Elise Boeur on fiddle, Daniel McCormack on bass, however Speck contains appearances from such notable western Canadian musicians as Oliver Swain (bass), Jenny Ritter (vocals) and Tim Tweedale (lap slide). It's a memorable sound that's catching ears across the country, wrapping listeners in its warmth, instrumental splendor, and heart-piercing vocals and lyrics.
Over the last three years O'mally has spent time touring Canada with various musicians or under the name Bandit with Outlaw Social's Danielle Lebeau-Peterson, with whom she released a self titled EP last year. She's played alongside Jeff Andrew, David Simard and Fish & Bird and many others. Things are bound to continue to grow for the passionate young O'mally!
