Vancouver Islands premier orchid event brings together orchid growers and orchid lovers from around the province to raise funds for the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
This years Victoria Orchid Society Show & Sale runs March 3 and 4 at UVic's Student Union Building and features displays of over 500 flowering orchid plants, ranging from the common white moth orchid to exotic jungle plants rarely seen by the public, but treasured by growers. Many of these rare and wonderful plants are easy to grow and will be on sale to the public.
All four BC orchid societies: Victoria, Vancouver, Central Island and Fraser Valley will put their best blooms forward in imaginative displays, along with individual specialty growers and vendors. Visitors will see the finest plants BC growers have to offer, and awards will be provided by an international team of orchid judges sponsored by the American Orchid Society.
The variety, beauty and sheer flamboyance of this famous group of plants from around the world is expected to be unparalleled in this years show.
A portion of the proceeds from the show will help support the work of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, which raises funds to support priority medical equipment needs and special projects at the Royal Jubilee Hospital and the Victoria General Hospital.
Visitors to the show and sale can see and acquire beautiful plants while contributing to this worthy charity.
